Furniture design realization course
Design and create your furniture with digital fabrication techniques: laser & CNC milling.
Furniture makers are increasingly combining the use of traditional techniques with modern and technological manufacturing techniques. However handy you are with the jigsaw, milling out a perfect circle on the CNC is very easy. But how do you use the CNC router and laser cutter to create your furniture? And what do these digital techniques mean in the design phase?
From concept to design to final product
During this 4-day course in Amsterdam, you will design a piece of furniture based on your own idea and concept. At the end of the course you will be able to elaborate this concept and use various (digital) tools to realize your visualized final product. For example, you will learn to translate your design into a technical drawing and to test the laser and CNC with the software program Fusion 360. On the last day you will go home with your own designed furniture and you will be able to work independently:
- Work in our Makerspace
- Make a technical drawing
- Convert your drawing to a 3D model with Fushion360
- Controlling the laser and CNC
- Test runs on the laser and CNC
- Adjusting and perfecting your design
Learn from a pro
The course is given by Rutger Oomkes. He has been working in several makerspaces and works as a maker coach for young people. In 2019 he attended the Fabacademy (how to make almost everything) and gained a lot of knowledge about digital fabrication. Rutger has specialized in conceiving and developing prototypes. Since 2015 he is also the owner of Gronings Wild. He knows the possibilities of a makerspace and will help realize your design.
