Lucille MD

Lucille MD is a photographer whose first found a love for photography back in high school, where she would photograph her friends in natural. When it came time to choose what to study, she wasn’t sure what direction to take so she decided to choose something she enjoyed doing. She studied at an art school in France, where she learned the technical aspects of photography. After completing her studies, she moved to the Netherlands with an even deeper passion for photography.

Today, Lucille works primarily in e-commerce, shooting stills for webshops and occasionally working with models. She has been at Contact for around six months, and been utilizing the studio more regularly in recent months. She appreciates being surrounded by other artists, constantly meeting new people, and seeing the ways in which people collaborate and create together. It is a space where there is always something new to see and do.

Lucille and Anastasia are currently developing an idea to turn their space into a rental photo studio. While there are many rental studios in Amsterdam, they are rarely run by photographers themselves. Their goal is to offer something for a lower price but with all of the photography equipment and their knowledge.

Lucille finds a lot of her inspiration from people in general. She finds everyone beautiful and whats to photograph their individuality. Her photography aims to show people as they are and to capture their essence through the lens.

Two projects stand out as particularly meaningful to her. The first is from years ago, when she collaborated with a woman who had survived abuse from her ex-husband and wanted to tell her story through photography. The woman, who is from Lucille’s hometown, has continued to exhibit the images in various spaces around the area. The second is a more recent campaign for a new platform that highlights people in Amsterdam who create handmade goods. The project allowed Lucille full creative freedom in capturing and showing the pieces as she wished.
