Shaping it on my turntable creates objects, mostly objects with a utilitarian function such as a washbowl or a piece of furniture. But sculptures are also created. Dilruba is an artist, designer and storyteller that works foraged materials she has collected through her walks and journeys. Her art explores how to accentuate the essence of these objects. Instead of using them as brushes, she plays with the way she holds them, dipping into inks, allowing the object to guide her rather than the other way around. In this humbling process, she is the apprentice of the objects, a means by which they can unlock and showcase what they are made of.
